Following the first BHR NAP for the 2016–2021 five-year period, CIDU published on 10 December 2021 the second five-year plan (BHR NAP 2021–2026).
Starting in 2022, through the established Working Group created to promote its implementation (GLIDU), CIDU initiated the monitoring process of the 59 compliance measures introduced in the second BHR NAP, as well as a collection of information on the results gradually achieved.
The BHR (Business and Human Rights) topic has now received broad and comprehensive consideration across numerous intergovernmental systems, and the second National Action Plan represents a document addressing it in a holistic and innovative way, also including indicators. Key themes introduced include: the legality rating; administrative liability of companies under Legislative Decree no. 231/2001; irregular labour and the agricultural sector; exploitation of migrants and human trafficking; international development cooperation; vulnerable groups; gender issues; environment; the rights of children and adolescents; the principle of diversity management in the business context; responsible conduct and the duty of diligence in UN, OECD, and EU systems; training; public procurement/corruption; and the internationalisation of companies.
Furthermore, CIDU participates in the annual United Nations event in Geneva on BHR topics, the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights, which aims to draw the attention of companies, as well as States, towards the protection of human rights.
CIDU has the honour of presenting the Second National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights.
